Hello, Campout!Carolina Friends.
Since 2007, thousands of North Carolinians have taken part in the Annual Campout!Carolina program each year. Camping in backyards, state parks, elementary school grounds, beaches, wilderness – you name it – Campout!Carolina participants have taken the second weekend in October to spend a night under the stars and celebrate North Carolina’s great outdoors.
Many of you came to the program as first time campers, and many of you became devoted campers – taking part in Campout!Carolina all 8 years!
EarthShare North Carolina is proud to have inspired new camping traditions for some, rekindled an appreciation of the outdoors for others, and provided a way for people across the state to collectively demonstrate why we should all do our part to Keep North Carolina Great!
The time has come to pass the torch and encourage you to continue these traditions with your family and friends as EarthShare NC embarks on new programs to strengthen the conservation community.
A big thank you to our partners who helped promote Campout!Carolina from the start: Shakori Hills Grassroots Music Festival (scheduled for October 8-11) and REI, who hosted campouts and donated prizes to registered campers and photo contest winners. For our nostalgic campers, the Campout!Carolina Flickr site is available for you to see photos from over the years.
